It's Getting Hot, Hot, Hot

When I got home from work last night, I declared that it was officially summer because all of our windows have condensation on them from the a/c inside and the humid sauna outside.  Apparently I wasn't being over dramatic as my statement seems to be validated by the Comfort Index Dips as Temperatures Soar article on gulfnews.com today

As the heat continues to beat down across the emirates, the national weather bureau on Sunday recorded temperatures above 48 degrees Celsius (that's 118 degrees Fahrenheit for those of you back home) in some areas. The conditions are extreme and high humidity has been adding to the woes of the public in coastal areas.
[Translation:  It's hot and humid which is not enjoyable]

The Human Comfort Index is at low levels and forecasters and physicians have asked people to be careful when out in the open. The weather has worsened from the last week of the previous month and it is getting difficult to breathe when walking outside in the evening.
[Translation:  The humidity is so high that you feel like you're in a steam room when you walk outside at night--you try to take a deep breath and your lungs are filled with water]
The time between 10am and 5pm is dangerous, he said, adding that people should avoid excessive exposure to the hot humid environment during this time and cover their heads and necks before going out in the sun. Children should not be allowed to play outdoors during the daytime.
[Translation:  It is unsafe to ever go outside unless you are Lebanese since you don't even thing about going out before 10pm]

The comfort index is low but we have not noticed any unusual change so far.
[Translation:  This is not unusual, so I hope you're ready for summer because it's just getting started]
J's drive home from work

Maybe this will help you enjoy your summer weather a little bit more :)

This kind of makes me ill just thinking about it! NC is about the hottest I can handle. We shall shower you with nice "cool" weather when you visit. :)
